It may be a thing of the past, but that doesn't mean it can't still be a thing of the present. Dialup internet is still around, and in fact, it's better than ever. Much like high speed, dialup offers different tiers of service, each faster than the next. But the best part about it is that even at its fastest, it'll still save money.
Residents of South Carolina that can't afford or have no need for high speed internet can turn to one of many reputable dialup internet companies that are offering internet service to the entire nation. At the forefront are NetZero, PeoplePC and Earthlink. Each of these companies offer packages that start as little as $5 per month to as much as $20 per month. You'll never be able to find a high speed connection for $20 per month anymore.
Of course, dialup does have its drawbacks. Internet videos and downloads will be very, very slow, because of the lack of bandwidth. However, if you need an internet connection at home to check your email or surf the web, dialup can be just the way to have access to those features without breaking the bank.
South Carolina, much like the rest of the country, is in a great position for dialup internet. Is it a dinosaur? Maybe, but it can still be a Tyrannosaurs Rex.

The reviewers at Velocity Guide give the edge to cable internet in terms of cost, speed and reliability of service. The only advantage they ascribe to satellite is its nearly universal access. So, get cable if you can.
