Pennsylvania offers a vast array of phone services with a multitude of companies to choose from. Sometimes, such telephone companies bundle phone services such as landline, email, digital, Internet, VOIP, and answering services. They also might include other basic services such as broadband, cell phone, long distance and international telephone services.

The two primary phone service providers in Pennsylvania are Commonwealth Telephone and GTE North Inc. Both of these companies are shown to have the greatest number of access lines.

Most recently, phone service customers are choosing to utilize cell phone providers for all of their phone service needs. Sprint and Verizon both carry the greatest number of access lines, with Verizon having significantly more.

When deciding which is the best option for you, consider whether you want a simple telephone company that offers only landline services, or whether you want a telephone company that offers the complete package, from local and long-distance service to cable and Internet service. The Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate can offer additional resources to narrow down your final choices.

In your quest for the best telephone company with the best rates and cheapest services, it is always to your benefit to shop around. Compare prices, services, and the friendliness of customer service. You want to deal with a professional company that treats you in a courteous manner.

No, they are not. If your power or cable goes out, likely the phone goes out too. Traditional phones also carry thier own power and are generally very dependable.

Is it better to have traditional phone service or a cell phone for your only phone? Post by anonymous in , Post Your Reply

This is a great question and with each person the answer will change. My personal opinion is home phones are a waste of time since the only time you can answer it is when you are home. Cell phones you can use anywhere and if you have a good data plan you will not worry about minutes. The only plus I could see from a landline is using it as a number to give to people that you do not want to give your cell number out to. If this is not an issue to you then there really is no point in spending an extra $25 a month.

Can you do work-at-home customer service jobs with your cell phone or must you have home phone service? Post by in , Post Your Reply

You will need a landline phone to work as a customer service representative at home. Most companies will require you to have this in order to apply with their company but some of them will reimburse you for the charges. You can find good deals with AT&T.
