When it comes to television services in Oregon, residents are inevitably forced to make the choice between cable and satellite. Many former cable users have switched to satellite lately, as it offers similar services for reduced prices.
Just as is the case across the country, there are only two main satellite television providers dominating the market right now, DISH Network and DIRECTV. Both providers offer several programming packages beginning at around $30 per month. Also, through each of these providers, you will be able to add the latest television technology, like high definition programming and a digital video recorder.
The only problem with satellite television is that it is unavailable to some people. If you don't have room for the dish to get a signal, you have no choice but to go with cable. Many Oregon residents living in apartments or condos are forced to go with local cable providers.
Residents that are in a good area for satellite have a tough decision to make between the two providers, because both offer a great deal for a lot of programming. Satellite television is a great option for everyday programming as they also provide satellite radio channels.

There are only a few benefits to cable over satellite. Mainly that is that you won't lose your signal in heavy weather. After that Directv and Dish have either similiar or superior programming at what is usually a lower price. Of course if you have the benefit of competition between providers in your area then you can get much better deals than the rest of us.
