Phones were always a main source of communication: They have been available in homes, businesses, buildings, and in telephone booths on the street. But today, the phone extends beyond these limitations to reach almost anywhere-- the cellular phone has made mobile technology a possibility. However, land line phones still remain a functional part of households and workplaces. In businesses, land lines can bring multiple parts of an office together, connecting customers to the entire service and not just one individual. The phone service can offer voicemail and call transferring systems to assist with interoffice communication. In the home, many families still prefer to retain a phone that connects the family and also offers a contact for businesses that wish to reach them without the inconvenience of mid-day calls to the personal cell phone.

Phone services in Minnesota consist of companies like Tracfone and CenturyTel. These offer many options like Caller ID, call waiting, and voicemail, and their reasonable prices can start at low prices.

No, they are not. If your power or cable goes out, likely the phone goes out too. Traditional phones also carry thier own power and are generally very dependable.

Is it better to have traditional phone service or a cell phone for your only phone? Post by anonymous in , Post Your Reply

This is a great question and with each person the answer will change. My personal opinion is home phones are a waste of time since the only time you can answer it is when you are home. Cell phones you can use anywhere and if you have a good data plan you will not worry about minutes. The only plus I could see from a landline is using it as a number to give to people that you do not want to give your cell number out to. If this is not an issue to you then there really is no point in spending an extra $25 a month.

Can you do work-at-home customer service jobs with your cell phone or must you have home phone service? Post by in , Post Your Reply

You will need a landline phone to work as a customer service representative at home. Most companies will require you to have this in order to apply with their company but some of them will reimburse you for the charges. You can find good deals with AT&T.
