Monthly rates for satellite generally hover between $44 and $50 in Massachusetts, with lower rates for the first six months for new customers. Some would claim that cable is more convenient because installation fees are generally lower, but satellite can be very beneficial to those without cable access or who prefer the high definition picture and flexible nature of satellite television.

No matter what channels or features one prefers, he or she can find what they need with satellite providers.

There are only a few benefits to cable over satellite. Mainly that is that you won't lose your signal in heavy weather. After that Directv and Dish have either similiar or superior programming at what is usually a lower price. Of course if you have the benefit of competition between providers in your area then you can get much better deals than the rest of us.
