Satellite television brings a world of channels directly into your home, allowing you to experience anything from European football to top 40 music channels in Latin America. Unlike cable companies, satellite does not connect to an extensive underground network of wires; it uses a dish to receive television programs via satellite. Providers install a personal dish for each customer, and this becomes the means for receiving all television stations. Satellite not only offers a very wide range of channels, but it transmits them in high definition quality. Customers can even use a DVT to record their favorite shows and watch them later.

Indiana hosts the main two satellite television companies, Dish Network and DirecTV. These providers offer competitive prices that some prefer more than cable. Whatever the customer's desire for television programming, they can find it with satellite providers in Indiana.

There are only a few benefits to cable over satellite. Mainly that is that you won't lose your signal in heavy weather. After that Directv and Dish have either similiar or superior programming at what is usually a lower price. Of course if you have the benefit of competition between providers in your area then you can get much better deals than the rest of us.
